Based on A True Story: The Exorcist. Real-Life American Horror Stories Possess. There has yet to be a more popular and well-known The Exorcists is based on a William Peter Blatty fiction novel, but the novel got its inspirations from a source that is based in reality, the exorcism of Robbie Mannheim. It was real and it is because if you play with fire, you get burned! Through flashbacks, we see the tribulations that she suffered while possessed. My point is, I was watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose the other day and got all caught up in researching the real story behind the movie. This movie is of a double devil 'children's' cartoon series named Toy Story. Exorcisms, possessions, and hauntings are featured throughout the series with paranormal investigators, priests, shamans, and psychic mediums providing commentary. The tag about it being "Based on a True Story" makes me think a bit about my own experiences with exorcism (which I'll briefly explain in a moment), and the odds of a possession actually being real. Robbie Mannheim is a pseudonym for a real of Mannheim's exorcism many times coined the name. This, of course, lead to other stories of real-life exorcisms. The Real Story: The film was inspired by Anneliese Michel, a 16-year-old German girl who, in 1968, began displaying symptoms of demonic possession. The use of a pseudonym is necessary because the witnesses of the possession closely guard the boy's real identity. The Exorcism of Emily Rose–The Movie Story: A priest is on trial for the death of a young woman named Emily Rose, upon whom he had performed an exorcism.
