I teach a lot of subjects other than sequential art, but I really try to focus on the fundamentals, whatever subject I'm teaching. Among the books our drawing group has found useful is Fundamentals of Drawing from the Russian Academy of Arts. Students may not always understand the reason for fundamentals such as anatomy drawing and learning about perspective, because some believe that they will be drawing creatures; things that don't look like human; or worlds that don't exist, so why learn the basics?! So I stress composition, anatomy and perspective.
